Tamara Imad is an Iraqi investigative journalist and fact-checker, currently serving as the Director of Akhbar Meter Iraq, the country's first media observatory evaluating the content of news websites.
She holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and is a member of the Marie Colvin Network for Women Journalists and the Arab Fact-Checkers Network (AFCN).
Tamara has contributed to investigative reports for Al-Araby Al-Jadeed in London and produced a documentary on Iraqi women's participation in security forces in collaboration with Internews as part of the Our Voices project. In 2019, she developed a data-driven report on Iraqi women's participation in the labor market with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Beirut. She has also produced journalistic content supported by German Cooperation in Iraq, focusing on women's issues.
She has participated in numerous workshops and training sessions with regional and local organizations, dedicating recent years to enhancing her expertise in data journalism, mobile journalism, digital storytelling, and fact-checking.
In September 2024, during a meeting of the Arab Fact-Checkers Network, Tamara emphasized the importance of strengthening fact-checkers' capabilities in utilizing artificial intelligence for information verification.
