Wisam Jafar is a civil activist and researcher specializing in advocacy and public policies. In 2018, he founded the "Point Iraq" project. After the 2011 protests that erupted in Iraq during the Arab Spring uprisings, he participated with a group of Iraqi activists in establishing the "Tawasul" organization for youth empowerment.
Wisam, along with his colleagues, took part in organizing and planning several advocacy campaigns, including the "I Am Against Quotas" campaign in 2018. In response to the distress calls from the people of Basra and activists to civil society organizations to shed light on the suffering of citizens and the water pollution crisis, which was accompanied by protests in the governorate, Wisam led a volunteer fact-finding team that included investigative journalists and representatives of non-governmental organizations. The team conducted a field visit to Basra and stayed there for five days, from September 19 to 23, 2018, during which they listened to dozens of testimonies and statements from citizens, protest leaders, tribal sheikhs, and prominent figures in Basra. This resulted in the writing and publication of a report on the humanitarian situation in Basra.
Wisam supervised the management and implementation of many projects related to the use of technology and modern media, including the Public Opinion Platform, the Government Observatory, I'lam Meter, and the Environmental Platform.
